ZOETIS EARLY VETERINARY BOVINE OR EQUINE STUDENT EXTERNSHIP
Zoetis recognizes the critical importance of veterinarians for the bovine and equine industries. As such, we proudly sponsor the Zoetis Early Veterinary Bovine or Equine Externship Programs, an initiative designed to provide veterinary students with an opportunity to obtain real-world practice experience.
Students will work side-by-side with a hosting clinic and be exposed to different areas of bovine or equine veterinary practice. The externship lasts for four weeks over the summer semester. Zoetis offers each student a $2,000 stipend to offset travel, lodging, and other expenses students may incur while participating in the program.
- The program is open to current first- and second-year students in the following veterinary universities. Some universities do not offer the equine program. Please carefully check your university or college's program availability when applying.

A NOTE REGARDING THE 2021 ZOETIS EARLY BOVINE AND EQUINE EXTERNSHIP PROGRAM:
Thank you for your patience as we have been working to provide updated information regarding the 2021 Zoetis Early Cattle and Equine Externship program. We are monitoring CDC metrics and guidance pertaining to COVID-19 and planning accordingly to ensure we can make an informed decision regarding the status of our program.
While we never imagined that nearly a year later, we would still be experiencing restrictions related to operating during the pandemic, the impacts of COVID-19 continue to affect us all.
Out of an abundance of caution, we’ve made the difficult decision to cancel the 2021 Zoetis Early Cattle and Equine Externship Program. Our goal is to provide a positive and rewarding experience for students, which would be difficult to deliver with current guidelines still in effect on social distancing with limited access to customers in the field.
We understand how disappointing this is, however, the decision is based in the interest of your safety and that of our customers and colleagues as we continue adhering to CDC guidelines around COVID-19.
It’s not lost on us what an enriching opportunity an externship is, and we’ve been working on an alternative learning experience to offer you in place of our externship program. Our team is working diligently to finalize the details on how you can participate and receive the stipend you would have earned through the externship program. We will provide more information in the next several weeks.
